Getting Into a Daily Routine

Well NOT really a DAILY Routine...but a beginning of the day routine.  I have been able to stick with my B-Complex and/or B-12 intake since Saturday so far.  Since it's winter in the snow belt I have been including a squirt of Vitamin D Spray.  All of which are part of the MyKind Organics Line...all whole food, plant based, vegan vitamins!

My goal is to go a solid month and hopefully longer this time around.  A Morning Routine will help me with this.  I figure if I am overly pushy about giving my dog his meds - why can't I do the same for me? LOL

I have been trying to sleep differently the last several nights.  I'm usually a side sleeper and I think this is catching up with me.  I'm trying my hardest to lay on my back now.  So far - so good.

I'm still not real good about daily breakfasts.  That's something I still need to incorporate, work on, and stick with.  The last couple of months I have not been real good at eating breakfast or lunch.  I know that is really bad.  Then I pig out at dinner to make up for the rest of the day.  I will snack during the day sometimes if I have something to snack on but it's not the best in terms of healthy snack sometimes.  Because of all of this I have gained weight back.  This may or may not have anything to do with my aches and pains but it's probably best if I try and do better about it.

I've also started incorporating Chlorella back into my daily grind.  Mostly Mondays thru Fridays - because I have them on my work desk.  I will probably explain this more down the road.  In the meantime I am taking those again, too!

Herb intake!  I've upped it!  I thought about blogging about it as I drank them if I was in front of the computer which I may still do but for now - yesterday and today - I have been enjoying Brain Booster from Urbal Tea and Ginger & Lemon Myrtle from Lupicia.

The Brain Booster from Urbal Tea includes: Gotu Kola, Peppermint, Ginko, Rosemary, Sage, Eleuthero, Parsley, Lemon Balm, Elderberry, Hibiscus, Apple, Blueberries, Currants, Cornflower, Raisins.

By doing this I am also cutting back on my caffeine.  Instead of 8 or more cups of highly caffed tea everyday I would like to stay to ONE or NONE to see what happens.

I found a way to do a little in more of the way of exercise in doors at work while in the winter months...STAIRS.  Simple enough.  I think I might tuck away a place for yoga during lunch soon, too!  I'm usually the only one in my office.  Time will tell.

I also picked up a few new bras.  I hate talking about those but I will since it's a change I am making.  I will give it a few days or weeks before reporting my findings.

So far many of these changes are for the better.  I would like to work on attitude, inner peace, stress, anxiety, and muscle pain more, too!

I've also been feeling a salad kick coming on!  I have been eating more of them than usual but usually when I get in this mode...I will go for a month and eat HUGE salads at least once a day.

I want to thank Christine and Hilary for their comments, encouragement, and support!  Keep on me!  I need it!

Vegan Pizza Party & LATE Weekend Giveaway

What happened to the weekend giveaway? Keep reading!  I am including this past week's giveaway at the bottom of this post!  Before we get to that I figured I would show you my vegan pizza I made on Saturday Night!  Hubby went to Pittsburgh for the Steelers game and I went to Buffalo for the Bills game.  More on that in a near future post.  Hubby left for Erie to meet up with his brother on Saturday afternoon and headed for Wegman's in Lakewood and grabbed some Daiya Cheese.  I then went over to my parents and made some of the Wildtree Pizza Dough that happens to be vegan and then added Sauce, Daiya, Onions, Peppers, and spices to it.  My parents had some of the vegan pizza and enjoyed it, too!

The first photo is before I baked it and this 2nd photo is after it came out of the oven.  We added some more spices to the top, too!  It was tasty!  I ate 3 pieces.  BUT...it was VERY thin and I hadn't eaten much on Saturday...a little but of grits but that's it.  We put the onions and peppers in between the sauce and the Daiya!

After making and eating the Vegan Pizza my mom and I made 3 different raw vegan desserts and I will be sharing those with you in future posts as well!  It was fun spending time with my parents this weekend and then on Sunday when we went to the game I got to see my sister, too!

I wish I had more veggies to add to the top of this but it still turned out yummy!
And here's a close up of a slice.  In case you were wondering I used a Wegman's Marinara that also happened to be vegan.  The spices were Wildtree Spices.  We sprinkled a little bit of the California Garlic Pepper and a bit of the Spicy Chipotle Ranch...yes...both vegan!

I've been hungry for soups so I will have soups on tap this week at some point among other things.

Sometimes when I indulge in vegan packaged convenience foods or vegan junk foods I sometimes will take a supplement...or if I am on the road for a few days to fill in any holes I may put upon myself.  I really like some of the Garden of Life Products that I have seen come across me lately - more specifically their sister company MyKind Organics which is a Certified Organic Whole Food Vitamin Company which is also vegan.  This is the company that Alicia Silverstone is the spokesperson for.  Today I am posting about their Women's Multi 40+ Vitamins.  They are allowing me to give a bottle of them away.  If you are a US Resident and would like to win these please leave me a comment along with your email addy.  I will choose a winner sometime Wednesday!  A little disclaimer...I was not paid to post this offer, however, Garden of Life allows me to do giveaways on my blog in exchange for honest reviews, recipes, and link-backs.

Smoothies, Vegan Cheesecake, Furkids, Vegan Cheese Sauce, and More MyKind

Happy Monday!  This is pretty much a Weekend Round-up of sorts but I guess I am starting backwards.  This morning I was successful with trying to stick with my Monday thru Friday Morning Smoothies!  Here's what I did for this morning:

1 1/2 Bananas
2 Dates
1 C of Coconut/Almond/Hemp Milk
1 T Sun Warrior ORMUS Peppermint

It's pretty yummy!  I think I found the trick to doing smoothies with bananas for someone who doesn't like bananas like myself.  ADD DATES!  I wonder what tomorrow will bring for my morning smoothie?  I'm thinking Wheatgrass!

Last week I blogged about FINALLY finding Daiya's Cheezecake in my region.  I had some over the weekend.  Here's a photo of it.  I was looking for a vegan pie filling which I was able to find but I was really happy about the dyes and other not-so-great ingredients in them not to mention the PRICE.  So I found that buying a think of strawberries was actually cheaper than buying the canned stuff which is RARE where I live so I grabbed some and made my own.  All I did was throw some strawberries into my Ninja Blender (yes I still use this as a food processor mostly) and a bit of Organic Raw Cane Sugar.
*ADD 1 t of Garden of Life's Organic Plant Protein VANILLA.  It's optional but awesome!

I'm kind of spoiling a little bit of my upcoming MidWeek Munchies but telling you some of these recipes but OH WELL.  I'll post about some of the ingredients TWICE this week!  Here's yet another Vegan Cheese Sauce I made this past weekend and I topped it with Spanish Paprika that I bought in bulk at my local herb store!

This sauce as the following: 1/2 C Cashews, 1/4 to 1/2 C Pine Nuts, Juice of 1 Lemon, 2 t Apple Cider Vinegar, 1 C Coconut Milk, 1 Squirt of Yellow Mustard, 1 T Garbanzo Bean Flour, 1/2 t Paprika (and more to top), 1/2 t Turmeric, 3 to 4 T Nutritional Yeast.

The sauce was tasty but I think I used a bit more Spanish Paprika then I would suggest to others that are just trying it for the first time.  I also noticed that 'regular' paprika has very little taste whereas this Spanish Paprika is POPPING with flavor!  If you can find it - BUY IT!  The difference is amazing!

The furkids enjoyed the weekend cuddling up to us.  We were around more than we had been but we still took a trip to Buffalo on Saturday.  More on that later in the week.

Here's a pic of Riley lazin' out in between me and the sofa.  What a SLUG!

Friday night while I was writing I had Charlie sitting next to me on the stairs.  Yes...this is our feral cat Charlie.  He's pushing 15 years old and doesn't seem to be slowing down much.  He likes tormenting the dogs that is for sure!

Oh!  Yeah!  We also saw our first snow fall of the season.  As you might now I'm NOT a fan.

This morning it was 28 degrees.  Brrrr!

And in Friday's mail I received a box from Garden of Life!  YAY!  They sent me a bunch of their new products and I have to say I'm pretty stoked!  You may know I am not usually one for pill-taking but many of these are liquids.  I'm especially excited about the Vitamin C sprays!  I've tried them already and the flavors are pretty impressive.  I'm taking these NOW to fight off the germs of my co-workers!  I've also started taking Colloidal Silver.  More on that in a future post, too!  I'm also excited to announce that Garden of Life is allowing me to do weekly giveaways on the weekends starting THIS COMING WEEKEND so stay tuned for that!
