Vegan MoFo ~ Midweek Eats Wrap-Up!

One of the posts from yesterday was about my NEW Favorite Creamy Vegan Tomato Sauce!  Yes...fresh is BEST but if you are feeling lazy or just want to give this one a whirl - it's darn right amazing!  So here is what I did with the sauce and it turned out terrific!  I did Brown Rice Pasta and mixed veggies.  Veggies were...Asparagus, Broccoli, Carrots, and Green Beans.  Also in the mix there were mushrooms and I added about a teaspoon of Hemp Seeds for the heck of it.  YUM!
This was one of my dishes from the end of last week!  Again Brown Rice Pasta but a different kind and the veggies were peas, corn, broccoli, carrots, and I think a small amount of edamame.  With this one, tho, I used Wildtree Wasabi Ginger Sauce for the flavor and it was GREAT!
And FINALLY...this wonderful SMOOTHIE.
Another spectacular attempt if I do say so myself!  Here's what I used...

2 C Coconut Water
1 Banana
1 C Frozen Mango
1/2 Lime
(optional) Fresh Mint OR NuNaturals Mint Stevia

I have to say that this is the BEST Wheatgrass related I have had to date!  Thanks GoL!

AND...speaking of Garden of Life...you still have time to enter the contest for their Chocolate Cacao RAW PROTEIN...click here!  And stay tuned...I will have another giveaway starting today and ending FRIDAY.

Making Something Out Of Nothing ~ "Cheeze-E" Wasabi Brown Rice & A Word About Wasabi

I had a random PLAIN package of Brown Rice at work and decided to heat it up.  It really needed some sort of FLAVOR tho!  I had an "Ah HA!" Moment!  You see...I was at the end of my bag of Tamari & Wasabi Almonds and kept the bag because there was a LOT of flavoring in the bottom still there!  So instead of throwing it away I decided to use it in this rice dish!  There were some Almond "crumbs" left as well and I added some Hemp Hearts/Seeds and Nutritional Yeast to taste along with a bit of water.  Considering this was a "what I had on hand' meal - this turn out pretty good!  The Wasabi smacked me in the face but I kept eating it!

Why do I like Wasabi?  Well, let me tell you!  I enjoy powerful flavors as you may already know!  With Wasabi I have a little bit of a reminiscent thing going on, too!  About a year or two before my Grandmother passed away I introduced her to Wasabi Peas.  She didn't think she would like them.  She thought they would be TOO HOT but she had one and kept going back time and time again and thereafter bought Wasabi Peas to snack on from time to time.

It's technically a root/plant much like Horseradish - altho - Horseradish IS a different plant.

It stimulates the nasal passages and clears the senses.  I think it's a nice way to open up and awake your nose every once and a while - just by eating a bit of it!

Some people say that Wasabi is good for slowing down spoilage and bacteria growth.  Wasabi also has Anti-Inflammatory Effects as well as Anti-Cancer Properties.  Just a few fun findings on Wasabi.

Product Reviews: SunRidge Farms Wasabi Tamari Almonds & Barre's Ballerina Spirulina

A while back I started chomping on these and have been taking my time with them because of the dental issues I have been faced with lately.  Also...taking my time because they are VERY FLAVORFUL and VERY FILLING!  SunRidge Farms offers lots of different things and I have been enjoying a few of them the last few months!

The Almonds - themselves - were darn tasty - but the Tamari and Wasabi flavor combo packed a powerful punch and had me coming back for more!

The ingredients in the flavoring consisted of wheat, salt, soybeans for the Tamari Sauce and the Wasabi Spice was made up of salt, rice flour, can juice, onion powder, spices, horseradish powder, yeast, parsley, and garlic powder.  There was a small amount of Canola Oil in it, too.

One of my FAVORITE things about SunRidge Farms Company is their GREEN Commitment!  Of course all of their efforts are wonderful but one thing I think is REALLY great for more than being "Green" is that they have an incentive for their employees who Bike-To-Work.  They pay them $5 per day to do so!  Isn't that AWESOME?  I wish MY company did something like that!  Not only is that good for the environment and your health - it's good for your pocketbook, too!

This is certainly a snack I would buy every once and a while especially for hiking and traveling as well as adding to other foods for a kick.

Speaking of snacks I might splurge on every once and a while if I didn't have anything on hand...

Barre Bars!  I reviewed one a while back and thought I would tell you about another one I have been able to try.

First...I LOVE the play on words with the name of this bar!  As you can see - it's a dark mossy green color thanks to the Spirulina and the small seeds do 'wonders' for texture!

This bar is 'grainy-er' on the tongue than the other bars from Barre but it's NOT dry.  It's extremely sweet and has a good amount of moisture!  I found this to be completely satisfying and filling...not to mention TASTY!
