It's the 2nd day of Vegan MoFo and I wanted to stick with today's PROMPT which is to "recreate a meal from your childhood." Well, this isn't really a complete meal per say but it was what I had for dinner last night and it certainly hit the spot! Cheesy Broccoli! YUM! Yup! That's 'from scratch' vegan cheese sauce!
Here's the recipe for the Vegan Cheese Sauce:
2 C Raw Cashews
3 T Lemon Juice
1 C Water
1/4 C Nutritional Yeast
1 t Minced Garlic
1/2 t Turmeric
About 1 t Yellow Mustard
Pinch of Cayenne Pepper & Black Himalayan Sea Salt
Remember you can join MY Vegan MoFo Blogroll by commenting on THIS post. I decided to make one since I didn't see a 2015 BlogRoll on the VeganMoFo.com site.
I thought I would also show you my latest shipment from The Raw Food World! They now have tote's! YAY! They are ONLY $2.95 and I LOVE them! For the direct link to these neat reusable bags CLICK HERE!
The Raw Food World recently got a whole slew of new items from Chocola Tree and I HAD to scoop them up! CLICK HERE to see them all! There are Raw Vegan Wraps, Raw Vegan Flatbreads, Nori Nachos, and Raw Vegan Cheddar Cheese Sprinkle as well as Raw Vegan Parmesan Cheese Sprinkle.
Just for good measure I did a close up on the vegan cheese sprinkles!
I ended up getting a few items for friends and family, too, but then I wanted to try these 3 new-to-me Living Nutz flavors. They also have some new Vegan Coconut Bacon which are on sale this month for only $4.55! It was also time for me to re-order cashews and salad booster, too! I finally decided to get some Camu Camu Powder as well!
I added to my Raw & Vegan Book Stash with these 4 books! I was luck enough to meet Karen Ranzi at the WNY VegFest last month so I wanted to grab her book. I have first Raw Foods For Busy People so I figured I should grab the 2nd one, too! I have been into learning about fermentation and added to that category. And then the Raw Food Nutrition Handbook looked interesting so I decided to go with that one, too! Have you read any of these books yet?
Mmm! Brings me back to my childhood. I can see trying this for Micah when he is older.
ReplyDeleteIsn't he almost 1????
DeleteSo glad you are blogging again!
This cheese brocoli plate would (will!) be perfect here!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It was tasty! The texture was great, too!
DeleteBroccoli and cheeze is a divine combo; your sauce looks and sounds scrummy. I love Raw Food World; your haul looks great! I love the idea of those sprinkles.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for making a blogroll!
Thanks so much Rose! What items have you gotten from The Raw Food World?
DeleteI don't order from there regularly, though I've ordered chia seeds and maca powder...I really like Matt and his video posts.

DeleteNothing like a good cheesy sauce! And look at all those treats :D
ReplyDeleteIt seems every time I make a cheesy sauce I do it a different way each time :P
DeleteI'm craving cheesy flavor just looking at that photo of cheesy broccoli! It is a hit in my book! Please add UrbanNaturale.com to the VGNMF15 blog roll! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI will!!!! Looking forward to your MoFo posts :)
DeleteMmm love that cheese sauce! I haven't read any of those books but the Raw Vegan Recipe Fun For Families book looks intriguing! I love finding ways to encourage my kids to eat more raw!
ReplyDeleteThat book is great! I really like it! And I don't even have kids! Well, human kids, that is :)
DeleteMmm, your cheesy broccoli looks so creamy and satisfying. I sometimes use the Heidi Ho cheese sauce on my broccoli for a quick and easy variation. (by the way, over at MoFo central, we should have the blogrolls up soon - we're a little group of volunteers, trying to keep it all going, and we had a few technical glitches. Hopefully tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteI have been looking for Heidi Ho Cheeses ever since she was on Shark Tank but have yet to find them on the east coast in the north! Boo Hiss! No worries on the BlogRoll - you guys are GREAT - we appreciate all you do :) Techie stuff happens :) Thanks again!
DeleteLove those tote bags, lovely butterflies.
ReplyDeleteI love their logo! The bags are great :)
DeleteThose tote bags are awesome! I actually collect butterflies =)
ReplyDeleteLove the sound of your cheeze broccoli. It actually isn't a dish I liked in my pre-veg days, but this version sounds totally delicious.
And your haul from Raw Food World looks so fun!
I have way too many tote bags to count! It's an addiction I think...but I do LOVE these!
DeleteLove the shipment of goodies and I'm inspired to get back into fermenting and use our crock more. The cheese sauce looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about purchasing a crock! A small one because it will just be for me, I'm sure :)
DeleteAnything with broccoli is a winner with me at the moment- when we were little we used to call them 'green tree's'!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I used to call them 'trees', too!!!!!! I will add you to my blogroll! Thanks again!
DeleteActually I can't find your URL - what is it?
DeleteDOH! Googled it! http://anasrocketship15.blogspot.com/ - will add you soon!
DeleteYour cheese sauce looks great! This is definitely a childhood food memory for me, too! Melted cheese over broccoli was the only way my dad could get me to eat broccoli when I was little! Today, broccoli is my favorite vegetable! :D
ReplyDeleteThat's cool! Thanks for commenting! With all of the vegan cheeses I have made I think the ones with cashews give it the best texture and take away some of the yeast-iness of the nooch.
DeleteOh you are so lucky to get those awesome Raw World shipments! It's like Raw Vegan Christmas every month! Thanks for sharing your Cheesy Broccoli in honor of VeganMoFo's "recreate a meal from your childhood." at the Plant-Based Potluck Party Link Up.It looks awesome!
