Multiple Posts today! Be sure to keep reading after this one! In this post you will see I have continued breaking in my new Excalibur Dehydrator this past weekend. I'm learning that most of the process is trial and error, really. These eventually turned out great! But it took a while! I made the 'better' very thicken and ended up dehydrating them for about 22 hours or so to get the crispy texture I was craving! The cheese flavor was right were I wanted it to be - of course without actually cheese! Below is what I put in these little crackers along with a lot of love...
1/4 C Coconut Secret Coconut Flour
1 C Cashews
4 T Nutritional Yeast
1 tea Pink Himalayan Sea Salt
1 tea Lemon Juice
1/2 tea Onion Powder
1/2 tea Garlic Powder
pinch of Cayenne
1/2 tea Paprika
1/2 tea Turmeric
1/4 C Almond Milk
1 tea GoL Wheatgrass Perfect Food
1/4 tea Liquid Smoke
1 Small Tomato
Now I am trying to think of what Cracker Flavors to do next! Let me know if you have ideas and/or requests!
I really, really, really want an Excalibur... my friend Amber is a raw cookbook author, and while most her recipes have optional baked or chilled options, I know they'd be best dehydrated!!! (Even cooked, the recipes are delicious!) Your crackers are adding to my dehydrator!envy. They look yummy... like healthy Cheese Nips!!! Hopefully, I'll get to try them soon!
ReplyDeleteI had a smaller dehydrator for YEARS...I got this Excalibur as a Christmas Present but early this year...I LOVE IT! I having been wanting one for EVER :)
DeleteThese look great, looking forward to time to get my dehydrator out with a few extra days off soon!
ReplyDeleteI'll be watching, girl!
DeleteWhat a healthy recipe for crackers. You did a great job with the ingredients and they sound like they would be delicious. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful healthy holiday and Christmas season.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! You too! I'll be back over to the site, soon! These crackers didn't last very long! I need to make more! And larger quantities!
DeleteHi Jennifer,
ReplyDeleteThis recipe for cheesy protein crackers sounds amazing. Plus it seems relatively easy to make--now that you have helped us all by perfecting the recipe. These will be great with raw and vegan dips at parties and holiday festivities. Thank you for sharing this delicious recipe at the Special Holiday Edition of the “Healthy, Happy, Green & Natural Party” Blog Hop! I really appreciate it.
Thanks so much for the kind words. They ARE very crunchy...I saw a "crunch" warning on a raw snack company's packaging that said "Crunch With Caution" I thought that was clever and keep thinking about that while eating the ones I made recently, too!
DeleteWow - these sound great! I need to buy some coconut flour... I think I have everything else. I love trying out new raw cracker recipes =)
ReplyDeleteI've been getting into Coconut Flour and must say I am REALLY Liking it! It seems to absorb more than other flours :)
