Erie Veg Society, Raw Vegan Sour Cream, Apple Blossoms, & Chihuahuas

I've been in contact with the Erie Vegan and Vegetarian Society and I really wish it didn't take me over an hour to get to Erie so that I could participate more in their upcoming events.  It's going to be especially difficult in the winter months because we live in the snow belt.  But I am super excited they are so active and have so many things going on in the next year!  One of which is their first ever VegFest!  I will let you know more about the event when I am able to!

Last week I made a tisane (herbal tea) with Apple Blossoms.  I think this is the first time I have ever had Apple Blossoms.  I will be writing more about Apple Blossoms and their potential benefits for The Raw Food World NEWS Site very soon!

I'm getting into herbs again more.  I tend to go in spurts.  Same with my love for learning about Essential Oils.  My newest point of interest is Crystals.  More on that soon, too!

This past weekend I made a Raw Vegan Sour Cream made out of Macadamia Nuts.  It was pretty good!  I took the last little bit of what I had yesterday and added it to some guacamole!

My hubby told me about a 2 year old Chihuahua that needs a home in a near by city and it breaks my heart but I don't think we can take her in at this time.  I know this will be eating at me for quite some time.  At least I know her name and can be praying for her in the meantime.

CONGRATS to Jacky!  She was the WINNER of the Garden of Life Marley Fit!  I emailed you - let me know your info and I will let GoL know!

  1. I wish I could have been more involved with the Erie veg society too. I tried to get involved in the winter, but Erie was so miserable in the winter, and taking the bus was a pain, and it just wasn't really possible. I'm eager to hear about the veg fest, I wish I could be there for it!
Some of your recent recipes have me really curious about using macadamia nuts more for sauces. I tend to stick with raw cashews, but I bet macadamia nuts make a super rich sauce!

    1. It seems like they are really taking off now :) The organizers seem really outgoing and passionate! Regarding the various nuts I have been using...I tend to use what I have on hand and then restock when I find a good price or am completely out! NOW...I'm completely out of Mac's! Eeeeeek! LOL. Cashews are my go-to. I want to do more with sunflower seeds because they seem to be the cheapest!

  2. Thank you so much for the coffee protein prize, Jennifer! NuZest also has a cappuccino flavor that I LOVE. They're based in New Zealand but they sell on Amazon now.

That's funny that you made macadamia sour cream - I have cashews soaking at home to make vegan sour cream tonight! :)

  3. I go in and out with herbs too! Trying to get back into them. And I'm REALLY into crystals right now. Using Bloodstone today for detox after indulging a little too much on Halloween night.

  4. Don't it just break your heart when you see pet listings but know you don't have the means to give them a home? I want to adopt a puppy so bad, but my husband and I are aware that we already have a pet who might not want that new company (a cat, who I don't think would even want a cat friend XD) Hopefully that Chihuahua finds a home soon.

    1. I know it! OMG!!!! I just worry about Paco and his issues. If he was completely healthy and med-free I would totally adopt her!

  5. That's great about the veg society! Hope you enjoy what events you make it to, having a local vegan community is great!

It's so tough seeing animals that need homes, I would take them all if I could!

  7. Oooh congrats on getting a Veg Fest! They are great =)
Very cool apple blossom tisane - I haven't used apple blossoms before and I bet it would make a lovely tea.
You have such a big heart, Jennifer! You can't possibly save all of the little homeless animals though and I'm sure someone will adopt the pup.
