For today's Vegan MoFo prompt of "Weird Food Combos You Love" I have to admit I was a little stumped. Mostly because the 'average person' thinks no matter what I eat is 'weird'. I guess I could tell you about having to go a picnic or potluck where I didn't prepare my own food well and having to 'settle' for a vegan hotdog. And by that I don't mean an actual vegan hotdog or veggie pup - I mean having Mustard, Ketchup, and Relish on a roll! People really look at me like I'm going insane. But desperate times call for desperate measure, eh?
So I guess instead of ranting about all of the weird things I eat or really trying to come up with an out-of-this-world flavor combo I thought this would be a good time to post some of the 'thrown together' wraps I have been creating as of late. All of which have been pretty darned tasty! First up is the one you see above! This one has Potato Patties that I cubed and pan fried along with mushrooms, red sweet peppers, corn, cherry tomatoes, and Vegan Shriracha Mayo.
Next up is this one. It may not look pretty but it was pretty darn tasty! This has Zucchini, Red Bell Peppers, Pine Nuts, Mushrooms, Spinach, Corn, Spices, and Sesame Oil.
This is similar but different, I guess! This one has Carrots, Spinach, Corn, Red Bell Peppers, Zucchini, Hemp Seeds, Spices, and Jalapeno Grapeseed Oil (Wildtree Brand)
I guess moral of the story besides experimenting with different combos of food is that wraps are a great way to mix it up and throw in various fruits, veggies, nuts, and seeds to get more of a nutritional benefit. Normally I would branch out even more with what I put in each in individual wrap but this is what I had on hand. This was also an 'eating from your pantry' type post.
Looking ahead to the weekend I did do some scheduled posts and they were pretty fun. But I do see some potential rocky roads ahead with these prompts so I might tackle them in a round about way with a loose interpretation.
I looooove your weird combo!
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
DeleteI cracked up at the veggie dog! I have done that before too, and you're right, I got a lot of side-eyes! I love all of your wraps. I am a big fan of wrapping leftovers, or what I have that needs to be used!
ReplyDeleteLeftovers is PERFECT for wraps - for sure!!! I'm glad I'm not the only one that has done the vegan hot dog trick before LOL
DeleteIf they didn't want the "weird food" to stare at, then they should have served veggie dogs! Serves them right!
DeleteHA!!!!! I almost missed this comment! Glad I didn't! Made my morning! Thanks!
DeleteOh no the poor veggie dog! Loving your wrap combinations though, they look delicious.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I come up with weird wrap combos more often than I thought I guess!
DeleteWeird combos can be awesome and your creations look great. I need to get more creative with wraps, but I love throwing fun ingredients into oil free stir fries and stews.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly ROCK the stir fries girl :) I need to attempt more of those!
DeleteSriracha mayo makes any sandwich (or most foods to be fair) that much better! I'd be eating that wrap a ton.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny because I never liked real mayo before going veg but now I like the vegan equiv :P
DeleteJust Ketchup, Mustard and Relish on a Roll...that is very hard core.
ReplyDeleteHA! That comment made me chuckle :) I needed that today! Totally sounds like a phrase that would come out of my own mouth! LOL
DeleteKudos to you for sticking to your guns and finding something to eat - literally, out of nothing! I'd say that's creative as it gets! Hope they have lettuce and other veggies next time you are stuck in such a gnarly situation. Hats off!

Thanks! Your comment made my day!
DeleteI like your combos; they all look and sound like flavor bombs!
ReplyDeleteI've been in the same boat at BBQs etc...although, I have to admit, I've eaten mustard sandwiches (just mustard and bread) at home just because that's what sounded good.
Depending on the mustard...I'd be up for that, too! :)
DeleteYour fillings look good, very nice colours. I am ok with mustard but I've a soft spot of honey mustard - love that a lot more.
ReplyDeleteAnd a spicy mustard is nice from time to time, too!
DeleteI know what you mean about your everyday foods being weird to a lot of other people. I asked my parents what they thought my weirdest food combo was- and they came up with something that I considered to be totally mainstream!
ReplyDeleteYup! Been there, too! But I've always said...wHy bE nOrMal?
DeleteThe wraps sound great! I bet you come up with all sorts of fun combos.
ReplyDeleteI really like the potato one =)
Some are worth a shot and others are fails but I guess we won't know unless we try, right!? Thanks so much!
Deleteps. Thanks for sharing on HVF! I'm pinning =)
DeleteThat's whats funny about this prompt...we are all considered weird. However, some of the posts are weirder than others. Yours sound delicious!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I need to catch up on posts from the weekend! I really didn't see too many that I considered too weird as of yet :)
DeleteI love wraps, I'll eat something if it's wrapped or in a crumb coating!
ReplyDeleteIt's always a good ole standby!
DeleteI kind of like ketchup and mustard on a piece of bread, it pretty much tastes like hotdog without hotdog. Uncanny.
ReplyDeleteLoved seeing all your wraps!
Thanks so much! And thanks for your visit and comment :) I will be over to your place, soon!
DeleteI have to agree with your choice of "weird" food combo. There is something about that combo that works! Thank you for sharing your Weird Food Combo with us at the Plant-Based Potluck Party Link Up. I'm pinning and sharing.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE weird food combos generally :P
