Today Sam and I spent our lunch hour working on our Containers in preparation for our Rooftop Garden. Today we started from seed 3 more produce items. You can see them above. They are Bright Lights Swiss Chard, Contender (Bush) Beans, and Wando Peas. We are germinating the Wando Peas in damp paper towels like we did for the Progress #9's. Speaking of which...about half of the Progress #9's have started spouting already so we decided to plant those in small biodegradable pots and will transplant them when it's time.
I have decided to look into tilling the garden spot in my backyard and try and do some gardening at home, too! I will only do starters in my home garden. Not from seed like we are here with our Container & Rooftop Gardening.
More progress next week!
Happy Easter to those who celebrate!
Happy Weekend, too!
Sounds like great progress, how fun! I use starters on my garden too and Whole Foods here actually has great prices on organic starters. Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteI wish the Whole Foods was closer than about 3 hours from us! LOL
DeleteI will be posting about our Starters once they are available in our area. I might do reviews on the outlets - what I get from where, ya know?
I want to start growing my own herbs & a few veggies this spring. My husband had a veggie garden last year and it was awesome eating our own stuff.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean :) That's what really got me interested! That and fellow bloggers like Opal and Christine :) They are wonderful encouragement!
DeleteSounds like you guys are trucking along with your gardening!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to add some more updates! But it might have to wait another day or two tho because I skipped a few days and have a few foodie posts to do also :)
DeleteSounds like you're really getting into the gardening and that's great. Tilling was done last weekend, more to do today or tomorrow. Mulch was laid out yesterday on the flower beds surrounding the house. More to be planted in the one acre garden tomorrow. Saying "one acre" makes me think of the "Hundred acre woods" from Winnie the Pooh. Why, I do not know. I would love living on 100 acres. If I was truly single I'd have no problem disappearing and getting caught up in the world around me. I'd resurface to reconnect now and again though. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm still going back and forth about the home space for the potential garden. I might do it in another section this year and plan better for next year with the larger space. What you said about the 'one acre' reminds me of my mom says "the back 40" when we were younger. They had less than 1 acre of land but she called it the 'back 40' LOL
DeleteHi Jennifer,
ReplyDeleteThank you for keeping up posted on your rooftop gardening efforts at the Healthy, Happy, Green & Natural Blog Hop! We appreciate it! What an inspiration you are. I can't wait to see your harvests in upcoming blog posts.
