Supporting Meat-Free Projects

Often times when there are projects I would like to support in some way - they are no where near me!  These TWO Meat-Free Projects are certainly following suit!  No Meat March was started in Jacksonville, FL, and this will be the 2nd year I will participate 'in spirit' and online.  There is an option to start a No Meat March Event in your community but to be honest I highly doubt I can get enough interest in my area.  It's sad but it's true.  YEARS ago I worked HARD to organize Vegetarian Potlucks.  The people who did attend basically came to help me out - such as my parents and sister and a few friends.  At that time there were more vegetarians in the area but they rarely attended.  It was very strange.  Anyhow...I like to participate - even if it's online!  So that's what I am doing with No Meat March and Meat Free Week.  Meat Free Week is based out of Australia.  Question of the Day - which projects are you currently participating in online or in your community!?

  1. I've participated in a few veg friendly events but for myself, it was a bit inconvenient and so I stopped. In all the cases, the time simply didn't jive with my schedule. I had a very active toddler and most had meetings at 7:00 p.m. during the week.
Within my community I'm involved with several outreach programs such as our Lutheran churches Food Closet, Food buyer for our ministry at the local Homeless Shelter. Sunday School teacher, and I knit and crochet hats for NICU and cancer patients. Passion Play is right around the corner and I'll be sewing costumes for that...

    1. I know what you mean! I know of a Vegetarian Potluck each month in Mayville, NY, but it would take me over an hour to get there on a GOOD weather day! Oye!

    2. I always LOVE hearing about your various projects! I guess in a way I troll your blog for that stuff - as well as other things, too! You know I LOVE your blog, girl!

  2. I've only participated in a few events too like VegFests and Raw Health Expos. I'm in a few vegan and vegetarian Meetup groups, but their events rarely jive with my work schedule, frustrating!

    1. I wish we had VegFests around here! I think there is one near Cleveland but that's around 3 hours away from me. I know what you mean about conflicting schedules! VERY Frustrating!
