Today is International Raw Food Day! I think this is my 3rd year participating in my own way. But I have been following Karen Knowler for about 5 years and LOVE her website and recipe ideas! Because today is International Raw Food Day it inspired me to do a Random Thursday 3. Today it will be Raw Foods Related! 3 things I would like to 'point out' aren't 'things' at all but rather PEOPLE. People in the health foods and/or raw foods movement that I have researched and learned from the last couple of years.
The first one being David Wolfe. I don't know if I agree with everything he does but then again I don't think I necessarily agree with EVERYTHING that any one person has to say anyway - that's the beauty of being different. But I have learned some great things thru his websites and interviews. I'm also interested in learning more about his non-profit Fruit Tree Planting Foundation.
The 2nd person on my list is Cherie Soria from Living Light. She was also a co-writer on the Raw Foods For Dummies Book. I've know of her for a few years and am interested in learning even more. I think I might look into more of her videos very soon! I know a few blogging buddies of mine have actually MET her and really LOVED her energy!
And I mentioned her above, but really this day, wouldn't have been possible without all of the organization, knowledge, and networking set by Karen. What a remarkable lady. Thank you for International Raw Food Day! I hope you guys have some time to hop over to these websites today and find things of interest! I, for one, will be enjoying my MANY free eBooks that I received for signing up for the event today.
Another thing I wanted to share with you was my "Buying Bulk" Success from the other day! Keep in mind...I ONLY spent a grand total of $3.49!!!!! YES! UNDER $3.50 for the following:
Garlic Powder (37 cents)
Organic Cumin (41 cents)
Fennel Seeds (34 cents)
Organic Yellow Mustard (34 cents)
Organic Curry (48 cents)
Red Lentils ($1.39)
I was VERY pleased with this! To get all of this even at a "Dollar Store" would be a minimum of $6 and the quality would be 'lack there of'. I've said it once and I'll say it again...I LOVE BUYING BULK!
Raw food is pretty awesome. I've been trying to incorporate more of it into my diet, it's easier in the summer months.
ReplyDeleteAnd yay for buying things in bulk =D
Yes, I have been as well! As well as mono meals :)
DeleteCherie Soria is awesome, I've met her a few times and visited Living Light in Fort Bragg. If I could afford it and take time from work, I'd love to go to Living Light. For someone in her 60s, she's very vibrant and energetic.
ReplyDeleteI knew you were a fan! That's cool! I would LOVE to do any of those classes or cruises or gatherings! I really want to do the Fruit Festival near Woodstock, too, but I can't! Eeek!
