Hi Folks! A bit of an easy-out on a post today. It's all about Thrifty Finds from Ollie's, mostly, on vegan cookbooks and raw vegan cookbooks. WHY? Because, I'm still trying to catch up on blogging things and because we received more bad news 2 days ago...my step-father-in-law passed away. His viewing and funeral are Sunday and Monday. This year has been a rough one. At times I feel pretty numb. Including right now.
Anyhow...the first book I wanted to tell you about was Hannah Kaminsky's Vegan A La Mode. I haven't been able to make anything out of these books YET but I'm thinking about getting together with my mother once a week and trying to make something out of each book this fall and winter as long as the weather cooperates.
This was another book I found this past spring. Funny thing...I don't have an Instapot YET but hope to soon! I think all of the books I have found at Ollie's were only $2.99 each! I do know that I have to invest in a different bookcase for the house at this point.
This is one of my newest ones to my collection. Matthew Prescott. I found him on Instagram and it seems like he and his wife have done books on different things. This one was plant-based and had a lot of vegan (and non-veggie) contributing comments so I thought I would grab it.
These last two are both from Susan Powers. And they are BOTH Raw Vegan books. Something I need to start doing more of again and soon! I have been relying too much on store-bought processed vegan stuff lately. For a couple of reasons, one being I have been on the go and not really at home much in 6 months to concentrate on cooking and the other being I have been finding so many interesting vegan options and products in stores as of late that I have given into those temptations.
I'm LOVING that these books are available locally in our rural area and for CHEAP! What kind of books have you found lately? What kind of CHEAP stuff have you spotted near your home, too!? Do tell!
I am so sorry to hear about your step-father-in-law. It has been such a rough year for you. <3ReplyDelete
Getting together with your mum to make recipes from your books sounds like a lovely plan! I have slowed down my cookbook buying so much, given I have so many. But I did just get the latest Robin Robertson cookbook, Vegan Mac & Cheese. As for cheap stuff... not too much of that lately I'm afraid.
Thanks for the note!Delete
I have been trying to get more of Robin's books lately! She has some goodies!
I'm so sorry about your step father in law. And I'm so, so sorry for all you're going through.ReplyDelete
I still haven't found a good used bookstore here which makes me sad because I LOVE a great deal on a book!!
I also think cooking recipes from the book with your mom sounds very comforting. Nothing better than a cozy kitchen on a fall or winter day!!
Thanks so much! I found one in Lakewood, NY, actually, and now that I say that - I forgot to post the book I found there! I hope to soon, tho!Delete
I'm not ready to call summer OVER yet. I'm going to try and hang on to it for as long as I can and I think that by getting together with my mom once a week might be a good way to do it...and enjoy the warmer side of fall!
I'm so sorry to hear about your step-father-in-law.ReplyDelete
It looks like you've found a lot of nice cookbooks; trying new recipes with your mom sounds like a great idea!
Thanks! It's been a rough year.Delete
So sorry about your step-father-in-law. Great finds on books, I have such a huge collection that I want to dive into more.ReplyDelete
Thanks and I know what you mean about the collection...I need to actually starting using them, that is the problem!Delete
My library has the vegan a la mode book and I made a few recipes from it! I should check it out again and make a few recipes from it.ReplyDelete
