Village People Concert

Friday Night I went with my sister and a friend to see Village People and KC & The Sunshine Band at Chautauqua Institution.  If you are not familiar with Chautauqua Institution - the HISTORY is MASSIVE for our region!  These days - in short - it's a community of its own - that is seasonal - but LARGE!  It's focus is on Art and The Arts, Education, Seminars, Religions of all sorts, Recreation, and Youth.  Each year there are popular music concerts - not usually current headliners - but still those that draw and entertain.  I usually try and make it to a concert there each year.  One of these days I will post more about the 'grounds' because that is quite the site to see in itself.  It's a community in itself and really quite amazing.

Since it was a Friday Night - we got there 'just in time' and our seats weren't wonderful but we still had a great time.  Village People opened for KC and The Sunshine Band and I will have another post with their photos.

They performed their hits "San Francisco (You Got Me)", "Macho Man", "In The Navy", "Go West", "Can Stop The Music", among others.  They also performed a NEW Song from their NEW CD that KC of KC and the Sunshine Band co-wrote for them called "Let's Go Back To The Dance Floor".  And of course - as a part of their encore - they did "YMCA".

There were TWO of the originals including Felipe Rose who has been the Native American since the beginning as well as the G.I./Sailor Alex Briley.  The Cop was the 2nd Cop from the early 80s returning in the late 80s - Ray Simpson...and the Construction Worker was of the 2nd flight and made the return around the same time.  The Biker and the Cowboy were both newer performers, tho.  Regardless they put on a fun show!  The crowd really got into it!  We even saw some people dress up - it was neat!
