Soups & Social Media

Just a quick little check in today with a HELLO to all!  I HAD to share this soup photo with you but because I wanted to submit it as a possible feature over at The Raw Food World NEWS Site under their RECIPE Section I thought I would wait to mention what's in it. I have to say I'm pretty proud of this soup, tho!  The main ingredient is BEET and YES those are Hemp Seeds you are seeing!  Eventho I'm not a girlie-girl and not fond of the color PINK the color of this soup is out of this world!  The flavor was amazing, too!  It's considered a RAW VEGAN Soup as well!

In other news...
There is only 2 days left on my friend Anne's Kickstarter Campaign if you have a few bucks to help her out it would be greatly appreciated!  She's in the process of trying to purchase and take over 52 Teas which is a really creative tea companies that prides themselves on organic and vegan ingredients.  Read more about this and contribute HERE

Incase you aren't already following me on InstaGram you can find me HERE.  I try and post at least 1 photo everyday but most days I go a little crazy and post several and especially with the upcoming plans we have I will be posting almost everything on InstaGram before I post it anywhere else.  If you are on InstaGram make sure you let me know in comments!

2 Raw Soups - Tomato Carrot & Tangy Tomato Corn Chowder

Towards the end of my Raw Week last week and on to the weekend I decided to try and make 2 Raw Soups.  Some of the Raw Soups I've done in the past have been hit and miss but I REALLY enjoyed BOTH of these two Raw Soups and can't wait to try more!

First up...this Tomato Carrot - Spice Optional.

2 Tomatoes
4 Sun Dried Tomatoes
2 Carrots
1 T Grapeseed Oil
1 Onion
1 Clove Garlic
Optional Add-ins:
Salt & Pepper to taste (I used Wildtree's California Garlic Pepper)
Red Jalapeno Powder
Hemp Seeds/Hemp Hearts

This next raw(ish) soup is a Corn Chowder of sorts with tangy tomato.

2 C Almond Milk (or Water)
2 C Corn
1 Clove Garlic
5 Sun Dried Tomatoes
1 tea Braggs Liquid Aminos
1/2 each of Cumin, Cayenne Powder, Garlic Powder
Salt & Pepper to taste

This soup is more of a Raw(ish) than actual Raw because of the Almond Milk but you could use water instead...or if you make your own raw Almond Milk, I suppose.  But I did really like the flavor of this one, too!

What kind of Raw Soups do you like?

Mixed Vegetable Curry & A Not-So-Awesome RAW Spinach Tomato Soup

Thursday Night I was preparing my lunch for the following day and decided Vegetable Curry sounded good.  I used Frozen Veggies PLUS an Onion as the main 'brunt' of it.  The Mixed Veggies were Broccoli, Cauliflower, Carrots, Peas, and Beans.  I added 4 small tomatoes to this, too!  I also added 1/2 tea of each of the following...Garlic Powder, Turmeric Powder, Cayenne, Cinnamon, Ginger Powder, and a little Jalapeno Powder because I didn't have Curry.  Towards the end I added about a tablespoon of shredded coconut and a teaspoon of Organic Sugar (Vegan) from Wholesome Sweeteners.  I added water as needed while cooking.  It turned out really good with some heat but also a tad of sweetness, too!  I'm still craving some Dal, tho, so I might be making some of that soon!

Earlier in the week I made this Raw Soup.  It's mostly made of Spinach, Tomato, and spices...but it needs some work!  It looks good but I wasn't completely excited about it.  I did have 1 bowl but I am certainly going to tweak it before posting.

I'm still trying to catch up from being away for a few days.  I think I'm almost there!  Might have one or two more smaller posts to post from last week.  PLUS...tomorrow starts a new week...with more kitchen adventures!

Raw Tomato Soup

Yesterday I posted about getting Philip McCluskey's Book on InterLibrary Loan and I have already attempted TWO recipes.  This first one I am REALLY liking!  It's his Chilled Tomato & Rosemary.  I won't give away the whole recipe but this is what I put in it with a few small tweaks...

Tomatoes, Nutritional Yeast, Grapeseed Oil, Garlic, Juice of a Lemon, Dried Rosemary Leaves, Water

It's TANGY but I really like it!  This is something I would make OFTEN as it's super easy and made with ingredients I almost always have on hand!
